Acorn Light Planning for 2007
Last year ESPNA won a grant from the city worth $25,000 to install acorn lighting throughout the neighborhood.  We raised an additional $4,000 in cash which allowed the purchase of eight acorn lights.  We will again apply to the city for a grant of $25,000 in June and we will raise $2,850 in cash to purchase seven lights. Click Here for the lighting map that shows the placement of lights from the 2006 grant and the lights selected for 2007 at the May ESPNA Neighborhood meeting.  More Information...  2007 Lighting Grant Final Report (6623k PDF)

Neighborhood Partnership Awards 2005-2006

Well folks, I have just returned from the 05-06 Neighborhood Partnership Awards event at Tropicana Field and have this to report:

We were awarded the "City Council District 4 Neighborhood Association Outstanding Achievement Award" presented by Council member Leslie Curran. Thank You, Leslie.

We were awarded the "Innovative Project of the Year" Award for our Inaugural Haunted Hike, and Frank Chapman, Sally Zimmermann, and Wendy Wesley, along with all the others whose insane performances made it a hit deserve our congratulations.

We were awarded Certificates of Achievement for both our Tree Grant, and our Decorative Pedestrian Lighting grant projects. Thank You Kathy Bara and Beth Meyerson.

Sally Zimmermann, Kathy Bara and I received Honorable Mentions for our nominations as Neighborly Neighbors of the Year or Association President of the Year.

We were awarded "The Web Site of the Year" Award, with much thanks to our Web Master, Andy Haslam.

To all the people, mentioned or not, who work on behalf of the Association, and who have made us an Association to be recognized and respected, I offer my heartfelt congratulations and thanks; for all your hard work, your effort, and your active participation in making Euclid St. Paul's a better place to live.

4/9/05 - What a day, eh? - Click Here for Photos
After a boffo yard sale, with at least 53 homes participating, we had a Block Party for the record book.  A sincere "Thank You" is in order for Jennifer Palmer, who wrangled up the food, Shelley Manes for the yard sale maps, Frank Chapman and Sally Zimmermann for the "Acorn Cafe", the signs, etc., and to all that donated gift certificates. And to all those who lent tables, grills, chairs, etc. another "Thank You" for making it possible. I will be bothering you in a day or so about picking up the dishes and flatware that was left behind. The leftover brownies will be taken care of, don't you worry about that. And a very special "Thank You" to Morgan and Shawn Rhodes for helping with the White Elephant raffle.  And to all of you who participated in the yard sale, and to those who came to the block party, "Thanks" for joining us in the festivities.  I heard several people say that they love living in this neighborhood because of the gatherings we have that allow them to visit with their neighbors, and get to know new people.  And that's not just chamber of commerce hype, either. This is a great neighborhood, filled with great people.  See you at the Tax Day Porch Party next Friday? You have a full week to recover.... Raoul Simon, ESPNA President

Where to Park Domestic Equipment in Residential Areas
City Code Chapter 29 Section 29-209, Domestic equipment includes motor homes, trailers, utility trailers, boats and campers. Up to two pieces of domestic equipment may be located on certain areas of a residential lot. Domestic equipment may be located in the rear yard or interior side yard of a lot; but not in a front yard, a street side yard, or a waterfront yard. On weekends only, equipment may be brought into the front yard to allow easy access and more frequent use. For more information, go to www.stpete.org/codepark.htm
Promoting E/SP at the Saturday Morning Market
Wendy Wesley, Frank Chapman, Shelley Manes and Sally Zimmermann spent the morning of March 26 promoting our upcoming neighborhood garage sale, handing out flyers and chatting up shoppers at the City’s Saturday Morning Market. Wendy had the brilliant idea of using this well-attended venue to promote “St. Petersburg’s Largest Yard Sale”; Frank and Sally designed and made a stunning banner to attract attention to our booth, and included both the yard sale and “St. Petersburg’s Original Haunted Hike.” We fielded many inquiries about both events and our neighborhood in general. We even sold some neighborhood logo gear to Euclid St. Paul’s residents who wandered by. Of course, these hours will be logged toward our grant application, plus it was fun promoting our fabulous neighborhood! - Shelley Manes, Newsletter Editor
2005 Dues
Our new Treasurer, Eric Fisher, is now ready to receive dues checks at his home, 1300 14th St. N. 33705. As it has remained for a number of years, the dues are $15.00 per household. We encourage you to pay your dues early in the year, as it allows us to avoid confusion in December. You may, of course, bring a check to the meetings, too.
